Where "Adults" Can't Drink
Check out the Original Drinking Map of worldwide drinking ages.
Also, take a look at our Olympic Map showcasing medals per capita by country.

| The age of majority (AoM) for each country was taken from Wikipedia where available. Otherwise, the ages were determined from government websites. If the AoM was found to be equal to or greater than the age to consume and purchase any type of alcohol, the country/region was marked in green. If some alcohol restrictions still applied at the age of majority (e.g. can buy beer, but not spirits), then that country/region was marked in pink on the map. Also, if you would like to put this map on you website, please link to this page. |
| It is interesting to note that within the United States, the Age of Majority varies by state. Thus, in Mississippi and the District of Columbia the age of majority is equal to that of the federal drinking age(21). Similarly the age of majority varies by province in Canada, as does the drinking age. Also, in much of Scandinavia, the age to purchase beer is the same as or lower than the age of majority, but the age to purchase spirits from a store is greater. |
